Trio of cellcos win 2.6GHz spectrum licences

Lithuania’s Communications Regulatory Authority (RRT) has announced that the country’s three mobile network operators – Omnitel, Tele2 Lithuania and Bite Lithuania – have won the tender for spectrum licences in the 2500MHz-2560MHz and 2620MHz-2680MHz frequency bands. Each of the three cellcos has been awarded 2x20MHz of spectrum in the two bands, which is suitable for the provision of 4G services, such as Long Term Evolution (LTE). Under the terms of the concessions, the winning bidders must provide 50% network coverage of a minimum of five cities within three years of receiving their licences, and must extend coverage to over 50% of 15 cities within five years
