Taiwanese cellcos to drop calling rates from 1 April

Taiwan’s five largest mobile network operators are set to reduce rates for domestic calls from 1 April 2012, Focus Taiwan reports, citing an official of the National Communications Commission (NCC). Customers signed up to services offered by Chunghwa Telecom, Taiwan Mobile Company, Far EasTone, Asia Pacific Telecom and Vibo Telecom are all expected to benefit from the lower rates. All five are expected to drop calling charges and text messaging fees by between 3.58% and 6.25% in compliance with NCC policy, with the new rates to remain valid until March 2013.
