Telkom looking to build USD163m Manado-Papua fibre-optic project

Vivanews reports that Indonesia’s state-run operator PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia (Telkom Indonesia) is looking to build a USD163.3 million fibre-optic network serving Manado-Papua, which it hopes will be completed by 2014. It is understood that the basic plans for the project are now complete and will see Telkom Indonesia working on the Sulawesi ring which connects Manado and Papua, spanning 5,693km. The firm’s head of corporate communications, Eddy Kurnia, is quoted as saying that work on the 1,490km Bali-Nusa Tenggara ring is already finished
