Ukrtelecom could assume network of Crimean local operator Krymtel as debt payment

Ukrainian incumbent national PSTN operator Ukrtelecom has agreed to consider a proposal to take over the network assets of bankrupt Crimean fixed line provider Krymtel as payment of debts owed by the regional company to the larger telco. News agency LigaBusinessInform says that Krymtel was declared bankrupt in mid-June 2012 after failing to pay Ukrtelecom interconnection charges, leaving 20,000 customers in the Crimean region without service.
