Congressman calls for an end to taxes on international calls

La Tribuna newspaper writes that Honduran congressman Rodolfo Irias Navas has introduced a bill that proposes eliminating taxes on incoming international calls to the country. The paper says that under Navas’ recommendation voice telephony providers such as Hondutel would be exempted from the current fee of HNL3 (USD0.16) levied on all incoming international long-distance phone calls. The congressman says his plan is designed to ensure that Hondurans are able to take advantage of high quality, low-cost services from a wide range of different suppliers, whilst simultaneously stimulating inward investment in the country’s telecommunications industry
