Eastern promises: MTS agrees to invest RUB3.5bn in Primorsky Krai

Russian telecoms giant Mobile TeleSystems (MTS) has agreed to invest RUB3.5 billion (USD110.5 million) in the development of wireless infrastructure in Russia’s Far East Primorsky Krai federal district, Prime-Tass news agency reports. MTS signed the relevant agreement with the region’s authorities at the recent Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum in Vladivostok. Under the terms of the contract, MTS is expected to expand its 2G and 3G coverage in remote areas of the region, along the federal and regional highways, and in small localities.
