Nucleo eyes additional spectrum

Telecom Personal Paraguay, which provides mobile services under the brand Nucleo, has submitted a request to telecoms regulator Consejo Nacional de Telecomunicaciones (Conatel) for two blocks of 10MHz spectrum in the 1700MHz-2100MHz frequency band. Abc.com cites a company statement as saying that Personal plans to use the spectrum to provide mobile broadband services nationwide. Telecom Personal Paraguay is the country’s second largest cellco by subscribers, according to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, with a market share of 32.9% at the end of June 2012, behind Tigo Paraguay with 54.2% and ahead of Hola Paraguay (6.7%) and America Movil-owned Claro (6.2%).
