True, AIS 1800MHz licence extensions to help customer migration

Thailand’s National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) has revealed plans to extend 1800MHz band mobile frequency licences owned by True Move and Advanced Info Services (AIS, via its subsidiary DPC) beyond their September 2013 expiry dates, to help with the two cellcos’ customer migrations from 2G services in the wake of their expected 3G licence awards in a 2100MHz auction scheduled for October 2012. The 1800MHz frequencies are earmarked for 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) usage
