Telebras, IslaLink sign MoU for South America-Europe submarine cable

Brazilian state-controlled telecoms group Telecomunicacoes Brasileiras (Telebras) and Spanish company IslaLink have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to build a submarine cable link between Europe and South America. The cable is one of five being planned by Telebras. If completed, four will be used to provide international connectivity between Brazil, the US, Europe and Africa, while the fifth would be used to better connect the Brazilian territory, by expanding Telebras’ national backbone.
