Orange gets EU backing to roll out 1,800km of fibre

Polish incumbent Telekomunikacja Polska (TP), which was brought under the Orange Poland banner of its majority owner France Telecom-Orange earlier this year, has selected Relacom to head a consortium tasked with rolling out fibre-optic cable networks totalling more than 1,800km in length. No details regarding the value of the deal were announced, though Relacom revealed that the project was co-financed by the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Regional Operational Programme, an European Union initiative supported by the European Regional Development Fund
