Alcatel-Lucent supporting e-government project in Ghana

Alcatel-Lucent has announced that it is working in partnership with Ghana’s National Information Technology Agency (NITA) to bring a range of online services to government offices in remote areas of the country. Under the so-called e-Ghana project, the vendor will design and implement a 600km fibre-optic backbone network which will provide high-speed data links between central government functions and remote and rural locations. In addition, Alcatel-Lucent will provide a national data centre facility to support the network and will also manage network operations of Ghana’s entire ‘e-government’ programme for three years, commencing November 2012
