A free public Wi-Fi network of 23,000 hotspots provided jointly by the Bangkok Metropolitan Authority (BMA) and True Corp has been launched, with three more ISPs and cellcos planning on joining the ‘Bangkok WiFi’ project, reports the Bangkok Post. Under a three-year agreement ending in April 2015 between BMA and True Internet, up to 150,000 simultaneous Wi-Fi users can be served at connection speeds of either 256kbps or 2Mbps, the former available for unlimited free usage while the latter is free for five hours per month.
