Paraguay broadband subscribers reach 400,000; 3G subscriptions dominate

According to unconfirmed local press sources, Paraguayan telecoms regulator Consejo Nacional de Telecomunicaciones (Conatel) has announced that the country closed out 2011 with a total of 403,549 broadband connections, a 43.1% increase year-on-year. However, of the overall internet user base, 67.2% (or 271,177 subscribers) are using 3G mobile broadband services, whilst the remaining 132,372 customers opt for fixed broadband platforms, including DSL and fibre.
