British broadcaster and telecoms provider BSkyB has released a financial update detailing its performance in the nine months to 31 March 2012, with it recording an 18.5% increase in net profit compared to the same period a year earlier. For the nine-month stretch BSkyB posted a net income of GBP689 million (USD1.1 billion), up from GBP581 million a year earlier, while total revenues for the period rose by 5% year-on-year to GBP5.08 billion, with the company noting it had recorded good growth in both retail and wholesale sectors. Retail subscription revenue, it revealed, was up 4% compared to 9M 2010-11 at GBP4.17 billion, in part due to an enlarged customer base.
