State-owned national telecoms operator Nepal Doorsanchar Company Limited (Nepal Telecom, or NT) has published some details of its business plan for 2012-13, including plans to expand its customer base by 1.55 million net new users. The Himalayan Times writes that under the plan, NT intends to expand its GSM and CDMA mobile bases by 780,000 and 720,000 subscribers, respectively, while it will add 34,469 PSTN fixed lines in the current fiscal year. NT managing director Amar Nath Singh added that the carrier will also start testing WiMAX services by mid-November 2012 in a number of places, including Kathmandu and Butwal.
