Nepal Telecom implements MSAN technology to improve internet access

State-backed national PTO Nepal Doorsanchar Company Limited (Nepal Telecom, or NT) is overlaying parts of its network with Multi Service Access Network (MSAN) technology to improve data speeds for customers taking its high speed internet services. MyRepublica reports that the MSAN upgrade will be used for fixed voice, data and video services, and is targeted at areas of the country where the PSTN is underdeveloped in terms of local exchanges. NT spokesperson Surendra Thike says that 69 exchanges have been established in rural and suburban areas of the mountain Kingdom, each providing capacity for up to 500 lines
