HCM City cracks down on SIM registration violators

Vietnam’s military-run telecoms company Viettel has been asked by authorities in Ho Chi Minh City to disconnect 114,352 of its mobile subscribers who failed to submit the correct personal information when they registered their SIM cards, VietNamNet Bridge reports. Late last month city officials ordered three service providers – Viettel, MobiFone and Vinaphone – to suspend 37,000 pre-paid subscriptions (including 23,000 Viettel lines), which had not been registered with the correct information.
