Brazilian state owned telecoms operator Telebras is in talks to set up a new consortium tasked with rolling out a fibre-optic cable linking the United States with the northeastern Brazilian city of Forteleza, BNAmericas quotes the carrier’s president Caio Bonilha as saying. The submarine cable project is part of a wider plan the company is championing to improve Brazil’s internet connectivity with the US, Europe, Africa and the Southern Cone.
