DoT looks for 2G delay

India’s Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has requested an extension to the four-month deadline set by the Supreme Court for the re-allocation of the cancelled 2G concessions. According to local news sources, the DoT expects the process to take around 13 months, including 95 days to analyse proposals for the tender from its sister organisation the Telecoms Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), fix a reserve price for bandwidth in consultation with the cabinet, and get approvals from the group of ministers looking into spectrum-related issues, as well as a further 245 days to complete the auction itself.
