According to local news portal ABC.com.py, state-owned Paraguayan telco Copaco is poised to launch its long-delayed IPTV service on 2 March, with the latest delay blamed on premium US TV provider HBO, which deemed Copaco’s IPTV system vulnerable to piracy. According to Copaco commercial manager Nilton Amarilla, HBO intends to send representatives to Paraguay this week in order to carry out a technical verification of the encryption processes currently being used.
