Thailand's first 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) mobile broadband trial began yesterday in Bangkok and Maha Sarakham province, operated by the country's largest mobile provider by subscribers, Advanced Info Service (AIS). AIS is using state-run telco TOT’s 2.3GHz band frequencies for the trial in Bangkok, with some 20 4G base stations located in the centre of the capital, reports the Bangkok Post. Simultaneously AIS is offering another non-commercial trial with TOT’s sister company CAT Telecom to provide 4G services on CAT’s 1800MHz spectrum, using eight cell sites which have been installed in Maha Sarakham
