Vietnamese military-run telecoms company Viettel Corporation generated turnover of VND117 trillion (USD5.45 billion) in 2011, an increase of 28% over the previous year, Viet Nam News cites the company’s deputy general director Nguyen Manh Hung as saying. Revenue from overseas investments more than doubled last year to reach over VND10 trillion; Viettel has operations in Laos (Unitel), Cambodia (Metfone), Mozambique (Movitel), Haiti (Natcom) and Peru. The company posted pre-tax profit of VND20 trillion in the year ended 31 December 2011, up 23% year-on-year.
