Consumers in Fiji could soon benefit from a reduction in their phone bills, following a strong hint from the chair of the Commerce Commission (CommComm), Dr Mahendra Reddy, that an announcement is pending on a cut in Telecom Fiji Limited’s (TFL’s) retail rates. ‘We looking forward to an announcement by the telecom sector for reducing retail telecom rate and I think they were waiting for the budget because in budget there is some implication on them – there is a 1% levy on all voice calls – after they do their own analysis they going to make some announcement but we looking forward to a reduction in retail rates,’ Reddy said
