Swisscom adds two more FTTH partners

Swisscom, Switzerland’s largest broadband provider by subscribers, has completed early stages of negotiations with energy suppliers in Meilen and Herrliberg to cooperate on the construction of fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) networks in the two cities. Swisscom, Energie und Wasser Meilen (EWM) and the municipality of Herrliberg have settled on the key principles of the agreement, and expect to sign a definitive contract in September 2012. As noted in TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, Swisscom is deploying FTTH networks in 36 cities, using a multi-fibre method that will allow other operators open access to the infrastructure
