Bangladeshi alternative fixed line operator RanksTel, which regained its licence last July following cancellation in May 2010, has announced that it will relaunch its operations ‘soon’ and has begun the ‘re-registration’ of its customer base, which numbered over 300,000 at the time of its switch-off nearly two years ago. According to a statement from its chief operating officer AKM Shamsuddin, as reported by The Daily Star, the private sector telco has carried out preparation work on its network over the last six months including re-establishing interconnectivity with other operators, and will be aiming to relaunch with ‘the lowest call rates’ in the fixed line segment as well as SMS messaging and other value added services.
