TOT says 3G expansion ‘on track’ despite flooding

The president of Thai fixed and mobile operator TOT, Arnon Tubtiang, has stated that the state-run telco is determined to proceed with its scheduled 3G mobile network expansion in 18 provinces next month, but acknowledged that the country’s worst floods in 70 years could delay the rollout. TOT’s 3G plan involves extending its W-CDMA/HSPA network beyond its existing Bangkok region with an additional 3,500 base stations in 18 provinces including Nakhon Sawan and Ayutthaya.
